Investigations
and Research
Current research on cotton in Ohio consists of preliminary investigations. As the methods and tabulation of results are more rigidly controlled, investigational work becomes research that is subjected to peer review and journal publication. Such an agenda requires a time frame of two to six years during which climate change should accentuate positive results. To achieve this level of study university-led investigation, funded by corporate and governmental resources, will be necessary.
Studies under Preliminary investigation
1. Cotton – impact on compacted clay soils (Agronomy)
2. Cotton – maximum yield - conventional verses organic fertilizer
3. Ohio Cotton – commercial quality observations
4. Cotton – effect on clay compaction and soil quality when combined with vertical tillage
(Agronomy)
5. Cotton – gross revenue historic review (Ag economics)
6. Cotton – decorative nursery product (Horticulture)
7. Cotton – perimeter barrier to deer damage (Wildlife)
8. Cottonseed oil – multiple uses
Early observations and data should become available in December 2014. Investigators interested in applying their observations to existing studies in a meta-analysis or adding to the range of investigation should Contact Us.
